It is a "funeral poem in marble" or some state a declaration of a "fantasy." Taj Mahal (which means Crown Palace) is a Mausoleum that houses the grave of sovereign Mumtaz Mahal at the lower chamber. The grave of Shah Jahan was added to it later. The sovereign's genuine name was Arjumand Banu.
